Build steps
Slip the ends of five 10 ft lengths of 3/4 in PVC pipe over 18 in lengths of rebar, driven 12 in into the soil inside the bed, every 22 in along it. Or clip them to the outside of the boards with pipe straps.
Run a 10 ft length of pipe along the top, wired or clipped to each hoop, as a ridge.
Drape the film over the hoops and bury or clip the edges. Clamp it to the boards with pipe clamps so you can roll it up.
On warm days, roll the sides up or leave the ends open.
Before you start
The hoops are 47 in tall. That covers lettuce, spinach, carrots and kale in cold weather, and is a free frost cover in spring and fall.
Without a vent, a film tunnel in full sun reaches 100°F quickly. Open both ends on every sunny day.
Use a floating row cover under the film for a few more degrees. Pipe lengths and film are estimates; check your store.
