Build steps

  1. Build the floor frame from the pressure-treated 2x4s on edge and screw the 3/4 in plywood floor on, with the joint on a joist.
  2. Frame the back wall flat on the floor and then the two side walls, with the tops of the studs and the top plates cut at 5.4° to follow the roof.
  3. Stand the walls, screw the corners and screw the bottom plates through the floor into the frame. Stand the two front posts at the front corners.
  4. Screw the two front beam boards together on edge across the post tops.
  5. Cut the 3 rafters with plumb cuts at 5.4° and set them on the walls and the beam.
  6. Cut the siding from the sheet layouts and screw it on every 6 in; the joints land on studs.
  7. Screw the roof deck, then the 3 metal panels, lapping one rib.
  8. Face the open front away from the prevailing wind, on a gravel pad, with 4 in of straw bedding.

Before you start
