Build steps
Set the two skids parallel on level gravel, 68 in apart outside to outside, and check square by measuring both diagonals.
Cut the three 2x4 ties and screw one across the skids at each end and the middle.
Cut the six rafters with a 41.4° plumb cut at the top, and screw a pair to each tie, standing them up from both sides.
Screw the ridge board along the top between the rafter pairs.
Cut the four slope panels and the two gable ends from the sheet layouts. Screw the slopes to the rafters every 6 in, with the joint on the middle pair.
Screw the gable ends on, keeping the door cutout in the front. Hang it from the top with a hinge so it flaps.
Fill with 6 in of straw for the sow and haul the hut to a shaded spot with a chain around the skids.
Before you start
Sized for one sow and her litter at 40 sq ft, in a pen with room to leave the hut. The 30 in height lets a sow stand with her head up.
Pigs are heavy and rough. Use 2.5 in exterior screws only, and leave the floor open to the ground so it stays dry.
Slope the roof for rain only: pigs do not need a metal roof. A tight plywood A-frame is warm in winter and shaded in summer.
