Build steps

  1. Build the base from pressure-treated 2x4s on edge, with a middle rail, on level ground. Check square by measuring both diagonals.
  2. Screw a 2x4 post at each corner and at the middle of each long side. Screw the top rails around the tops.
  3. Staple hardware cloth to the outside of the posts, rails and base on all four sides. Overlap seams by 2 in.
  4. Build two 2x2 lid frames laid flat, staple cloth to them and hinge each at the back.
  5. Cut the plywood hide box from the sheet layouts, screw it together and set it in one corner as a dry den with a 10 x 8 in door.
