Build steps

  1. Level a pad of gravel or packed dirt 7 ft 6 in wide and long enough for the skids. Lay the two 2x6 skids 7 ft apart and check square by measuring both diagonals.
  2. Screw the 2x4 ties across the skids at each hoop position, on edge, flush with the bottom.
  3. Stand one end of a 16 ft cattle panel on each skid, and bend it in until it stands on both. Screw the feet to the skids with 3 in fence staples or U-bolts. Set 3 panels side by side.
  4. Screw the two plywood back pieces to the last hoop, with the outline cut to the arch.
  5. Wire the panels to each other along the length every 12 in with tie wire.
  6. Pull the tarp over the top, leaving the front open and the back end 6 in short of the ground. Strap it to the skids with rope or ratchet straps.
  7. Spread 6 in of straw inside. Move it with a tractor and a chain through the skids.
