Build steps

Mark the twelve post positions: two rows 24 ft apart with four posts 10 ft apart, and two more on each end wall. Check square by measuring all four diagonals. Dig each hole 22 in deep, with 6 in of gravel in the bottom.
Set the 6x6 posts plumb in the holes, with the tops 10 ft above the ground, and backfill with gravel or concrete, tamped. Brace each until the beams are on.
Bolt the doubled 2x6 beam boards over the post tops on the back and front rows, joints over the posts.
Set the eight trusses on the beams, 4 ft apart, with a brace at every truss, and fasten each with hurricane ties and screws.
Lay the purlins flat across the trusses, 24 in on center, and screw the metal roof panels over them in two lapped courses per slope.
Bolt 2x6 girts to the outside of the posts on the back wall and both ends, 24 in on center, and screw the metal siding to them. Leave the front open, or hang sliding doors.
Level the floor with 4 in of gravel, or pour a slab.

Before you start

A 24 x 30 ft barn is 720 sq ft: a tractor, a workshop and a hay stack. It needs a permit, an engineer's check of the trusses and often a site plan.
The 6x6 posts, the trusses and the girts are not in the master price list; the prices are estimates. Get a quote from a truss supplier for your snow and wind load.
The metal siding and roof are bought in 8 ft and 10 ft panels and totalled in the shopping list; add trim, flashing and the ridge cap by the foot.
Posts set in the ground rot in 20 to 40 years; use posts rated UC4B for ground contact.
The open front spans 30 ft with a doubled 2x6 on edge and four posts; for a heavy snow load, add a header or a glulam.
