Build steps
Cut two 36 in beams, eight legs at 25 in with 15° cuts at both ends and two 30 in rails.
Screw each beam on edge to the tops of two leg pairs, with the legs splayed 8 in at the bottom on both sides, two 3 in screws per leg.
Screw a rail across each end between the legs at 8 in, to hold the legs from spreading.
Check the horse sits flat on the floor and does not rock. Trim a leg if it does. Make the second horse the same.
Before you start
Two 24 in sawhorses hold a sheet of plywood on edge or a board to cut. At 24 in a pair of them, with a sheet of plywood on top, make a 24 in table.
Splayed legs make a stable stand and the cut at 15° fits the splay. A sawhorse that is too tall is dangerous to cut on: keep it at knee-to-hip height.
Each horse carries 300 lb. For a heavier load, use 4x4 legs.
