Build steps
Cut the plywood to 35 x 29 in and four 2x2 lips to fit round the edge.
Screw the lips flat on the plywood edges, with the corners overlapping, and seal the corners with caulk.
Screw a 2x2 cleat to the legs under each side of the compartment so the tray's edge slides on them, 3 in under the floor.
Slide the tray in under the floor. Sprinkle a little lime or litter in it to cut the smell, and empty it into the compost each week.
Before you start
A tray catches droppings under a raised hutch so you can clean up in a minute. Rabbit droppings are good garden fertilizer.
Seal the corners and the plywood with a coat of exterior paint, so it does not rot.
A 1 in lip stops the droppings sliding off. For a hutch with an open front, make a lip 3 in at the front.
