Build steps

  1. Dig six post holes 20 in deep. Set the posts plumb, the three front ones 6 in taller than the back, and tamp gravel round each.
  2. Screw two 2x4s on edge together across the tops of each row of posts for a beam.
  3. Cut the 6 rafters with plumb cuts at 4.8° and screw them to the beams.
  4. Screw on the roof deck and the 6 metal panels, lapping one rib.
  5. Screw the plywood panels across the back and the sides at the top, to block rain and wind, and leave the lower part open.
  6. Screw the two roost bars across the back posts on short supports, flat side up, at 40 and 50 in, with the top edges rounded.
