Build steps

Cut the legs to 27 3/4 in and the beams, crosses and boards to length. Check them against the cutting diagram.
Screw the 2x4 beams to the legs, on edge, with two 3 in carriage bolts each, and the three cross pieces between them.
Cut the plywood bottom in two and screw it onto the frame, with the joint on the middle cross piece. Drill drain holes.
Screw the 2x6 sides and ends on edge on the bottom, outside the frame, and to each other at the corners.
Line the inside with landscape fabric, fill with light soil mix, and set a drip line along it.

Before you start

The top of the bed is 34 in high, with 24 in of clear space under it for knees. At 24 in wide, you can reach the middle from one side. The usual guideline for a knee space is 27 in: raise the legs 3 in if the chair needs it.
The soil is only 5.5 in deep: good for lettuce, herbs, strawberries and spinach, not for tomatoes or roots. Add a second 2x6 course if the gardener can reach the soil.
A full bed weighs about 700 lb. Set the legs on pavers or concrete blocks, and use a light mix (compost, coir, perlite).
Keep a clear 36 in aisle on the working side and a firm path to it.
